Raspet research director presents at aviation business executive conference

​STARKVILLE, Miss. – A member of the Raspet Flight Research Laboratory’s leadership team is scheduled to present today [Nov. 11] at Mississippi’s premier aviation conference.

Madison Dixon, research director of the Mississippi State flight lab, will speak during the 2021 Mississippi Airports Association Annual Conference, scheduled for Nov. 10-12 in Biloxi.

Dixon’s talk, “Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS),” provides airport directors, board members, engineers, consultants, government officials and aviation-related business representatives an update on the UAS industry and activities at Raspet. 

An FAA licensed remote pilot with more than 1,800 hours of UAS operations across the U.S., Dixon leads research development, coordination and management efforts that support the vision of Raspet and its research partners. He also serves as president of the Mississippi chapter of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International or AUVSI.

Dixon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Delta State University and a Master of Science degree from MSU and is a certified Project Management Professional, or PMP.

The Mississippi Airports Association is a consortium of individuals and organizations interested in enhancing aviation in Mississippi. Members include those involved in airport management as well as consultants, businesspeople and members of government. Its purpose is to promote aviation and airport interests, to provide a medium for discussion by its members, to promote proper legislation for aviation and airports and to advise and give consultation to its members when requested.
